Time to Get Out There Dog Moms & Dads!

Dog Like Me is almost two years old and I’ve reluctantly introduced us a handful of times but that’s mostly because we created this community for you and your doggos, not us! I realized that people want to know who is behind Dog Like Me, so I pop in once in a while.

Meet The Creator of Dog like Me - KaraWould you believe that I’m a little scared to put myself out there just like you?

As Dog Like Me grows, I've nagged and prodded dog moms and dog dads around the world to share their Dogstory with us and get out from behind their dog. I must have said that "people want to meet the person behind the dog" thousands of times by now.

So why am I'm going to keep saying it?

1. Here’s a little SECRET: people know that your furbaby isn't writing their own stuff. Followers and brand partners want to know who you are, where you're from, why did you get your pup, what's special about your relationship with your dog?

2. What is it about your pooch that inspires, entertains or educates your followers? Most dog accounts provide one or more of these. Recognize your niche and explain to followers why you do what you do. You have so much to give and receive! Allowing people into your personal life (within reason) is key to building authentic relationships and standing out. Careful not to overshare!

Since I’m big on leading by example, here goes… If you know me, you know that I appear self-confident and outgoing. I’m an experienced public speaker and networker but on the inside, I am MUCH more nervous than I seem. I’m 55 years old, married and have 3 grown kids who I am super proud of. They are all awesome people!

I hate pictures of myself even more than you do. While I seem like an extrovert, I’m actually a very private person. We live in Saratoga Springs NY, and I work from my home office where you’ll see the light on way more than it should be. I don’t sleep or exercise enough. I’m a lawyer and a former adjunct college professor. I am an optimist and I like emojis. 😂

And I love dogs, all dogs!

If you want to make a deeper connection with your audience, then show up on your dog's feed and stories occasionally, introduce yourself, and reintroduce yourself periodically so that new followers can make a deeper connection with you.

Be on the lookout for our next Blog Series about how and why you should introduce yourself! Promise, it's not that hard - and you'll be amazed at how you can grow your community by allowing them to get to know you a little better!
